About the Role
Our client is a large manufacturer in Tanzania is seeking a commercially driven and technology-oriented Head of Finance to lead the country’s finance function. The role will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, optimize cash flow, and drive digital transformation within finance operations in addition to managing other aspects of business operation i.e. production process flow and inventory management.
The ideal candidate will combine strong manufacturing finance expertise with ERP proficiency, business analytics capability, and hands-on leadership experience in emerging markets.
Key Roles
Strategic & Commercial Finance
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on financial strategy and business planning.
• Drive profitability, cost optimization, and capital efficiency initiatives.
• Lead long-term financial planning and investment analysis.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
• Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
• Deliver timely MIS reports and performance dashboards.
• Provide actionable financial insights to support decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Oversee preparation of:
o Balance Sheet
o P&L Statements
o Cash Flow Reports
• Ensure compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 9) and local regulations.
• Manage tax planning and TRA compliance.
• Liaise with external auditors (KPMG, PwC or equivalent).
Treasury & Working Capital Management
• Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
• Optimize working capital and banking relationships.
• Lead Forex management and currency risk mitigation strategies.
ERP & Digital Finance Leadership
• Drive ERP optimization (SAP / SYSPRO preferred).
• Automate finance processes (AP, AR, reconciliations, reporting).
• Implement BI tools (Power BI or similar) for enhanced reporting.
• Ensure financial data integrity and internal controls.
Team Leadership
• Build and mentor a high-performing finance team.
• Promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and sales.
Qualifications and Experience
• CA / CPA / ACCA / CFA / MBA (Finance)
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Strong experience in manufacturing / FMCG / packaging sector preferred.
• Exposure to African or emerging markets is an advantage.
• Proven experience in ERP-led finance transformation.
