Objective of the Position
This role involves strategic planning, process optimization, and coordination with various departments to meet company objectives and enhance customer satisfaction. This role will play a crucial part in developing and maintaining good relationships with vendors and distributors, ensuring that the supply chain operations run smoothly and effectively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
° Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business goals.
° Optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
° Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain.
° Oversee sourcing and procurement of materials.
° Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
° Optimize logistics processes to ensure favorable terms, timely delivery of products and reliable supply.
° Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favorable terms, timely delivery of products and reliable supply.
° Ensure accurate inventory forecasting to meet customer demand without overstocking.
° Implement inventory control processes to optimize stock levels.
° Collaborate with production teams to align supply chain activities with production schedules.
° Ensure the availability of materials to meet production demands.
° Analyze supply chain processes and identify areas for improvement.
° Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency.
° Lead and mentor the procurement and supply chain team, providing guidance and support.
° Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
° Complete and administer performance reviews with all direct reports.
° Develop and manage the supply chain budget.
° Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures.
° Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, for example, KEBS, PPB, KEPHIS, KRA, ISM etc and company policies as well.
° Liaising with freight forwarders for shipment tracking and clearing agents for IDF application and its accuracy
° Verification of HS Codes used for various products.
° Maintain accurate documentation and records.
° Prepare and present regular reports on supply chain performance.
° Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
° Utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
° Standardize inventory quarterly reporting and analysis and institute corrective action for close-outs and out-of-stock items to keep inventory records current.
° Track international inventory shipments and preparing spreadsheets detailing item information: divisions and rotations in collaboration with demand team.
Qualifications:
° Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
° Proven experience in supply chain management, with a minimum of 10 years in a leadership role.
° Strong understanding of supply chain principles, practices, and trends.
° Strong people management skills, setting clear performance objectives and coaching staff.
° Significant experience of the Kenyan market as well as the regional dynamics especially in the retail and distribution industry.
° Strong leadership and communication skills, including effective interpersonal, influencing, negotiation, contract management, and report writing skills.
° Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
° Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
