Role Summary
The Head of Tracking Department is responsible for leading the strategy, operations, B2B business development helping in new business acquisition and continuous improvement of the company’s vehicle tracking function. This role ensures that the head of tracking helps in leading an effective, service-oriented team that ensures monitoring of gadgets, ensures risks are minimized, and provides data-driven insights support operational efficiency, compliance, and customer protection.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development, Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and implement the overall tracking strategy aligned with company objectives.
• Push business development and ensure onboarding of new external businesses, with a major focus on B2B, ensuring that KPI’s are met.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the tracking team to ensure high performance and accountability.
• Establish policies, procedures, and best practices for effective tracking operations.
Tracking Operations
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the vehicle tracking system for financed vehicles.
• Ensure real-time monitoring of vehicle locations, routes, and movements through tracking software.
• Maintain accurate, updated records of vehicle activity and tracking data.
Incident & Alert Management
• Define alert parameters for unauthorized movement, deviations, tampering, or high-risk activity.
• Ensure timely investigation and resolution of alerts and incidents.
• Escalate significant risks or irregularities to senior management promptly.
Data Analysis & Reporting
• Analyze tracking data to assess utilization, route efficiency, and performance trends.
• Prepare periodic management reports highlighting insights, deviations, risks, and recommendations.
• Support decision-making through data-driven insights and performance dashboards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Operations to coordinate logistics, maintenance schedules, and inspections.
• Collaborate with the Credit and Collections teams to align tracking insights with repayment status and contract compliance.
• Liaise with Legal/Compliance to ensure policy adherence and risk mitigation.
Technology & Systems Management
• Ensure tracking devices are installed, functional, and properly maintained.
• Coordinate with vendors and technical teams for troubleshooting, upgrades, and replacements.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend system improvements.
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with data protection laws, privacy regulations, and internal policies.
• Identify tracking-related risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and operational transparency.
Training & Support
• Provide training to internal teams and drivers on the correct use of tracking systems.
• Offer guidance and technical support on tracking-related issues.
General
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications & Experience (Recommended)
• Proven strong experience in business development, fleet management, tracking systems, or operations leadership.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience managing teams and working cross-functionally.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking technologies, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Understanding of risk management and data protection regulations.
