KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Goods Receiving
- Receive all deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes, verifying quantity, quality, and specifications.
- Reject and document any substandard, damaged, or short-delivered goods immediately.
- Record all receipts in the goods received note (GRN) book and update stock cards or the inventory system.
- Ensure perishable items are checked for freshness, expiry dates, and proper temperature at delivery.
2. Storage & Organization
- Maintain all stores in a clean, organized, and secure condition at all times.
- Store items according to their nature: dry goods, cold storage (chiller and freezer), chemicals, and equipment.
- Enforce the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expiry, First-Out (FEFO) methods rigorously for all perishable stock.
- Label all shelves and bins clearly with item names, units, and reorder levels.
- Monitor storage temperatures for cold rooms and freezers daily, reporting any deviations immediately.
3. Stock Issuance
- Issue stock only against approved and signed store requisition forms.
- Record all issuances immediately in the stock system or on bin cards.
- Challenge any unusual or excessive requisitions before issuing.
- Ensure high-value or sensitive items (alcohol, meat, cleaning chemicals) are strictly controlled.
4. Inventory Control & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date stock records for every item across all stores.
- Track minimum and maximum stock levels and raise purchase requisitions when reorder points are reached.
- Identify and report slow-moving, obsolete, or near-expiry stock to the Cost Controller for action.
- Participate in monthly physical stock counts and assist in reconciling variances.
5. Security & Housekeeping
- Ensure stores are locked at all times; control and log all key access.
- Restrict store access to authorized personnel only.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness to prevent pest infestation, contamination, and deterioration.
- Report any signs of theft, pilferage, or unauthorized access immediately.
6. Coordination & Communication
- Liaise daily with the kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments regarding stock availability.
- Communicate with the procurement team and suppliers on delivery schedules and quality issues.
- Provide daily or weekly stock reports to the Accountant or Cost Controller as required.

Education
Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Stores Management, or related field.
Experience
Minimum 2–3 years as a Store Keeper, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, or food-related industry.
Language
Working proficiency in Somali. Basic English is an advantage.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, stock valuation, and FIFO/FEFO principles.
- Proficiency in manual and computerized stock control systems.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Unquestionable integrity and honesty in handling company assets.
- Good physical fitness — able to lift, move, and organize stock.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain tidy, orderly stores.
- Understanding of food safety and proper storage conditions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and firmly with suppliers and department heads.

- Stock variance below 2% on monthly physical counts.
- Zero instances of stock-out on critical items due to failure to reorder.
- Food wastage from spoilage minimized (target: less than 1% of food purchases).
- 100% of deliveries inspected and documented on day of arrival.
- All stock records updated within 24 hours of any transaction.
- Stores passing hygiene and organization audits with a score above 90%.
- Zero security incidents or unauthorized access to stores.
