Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this job is to maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and optimize instrumentation and control systems within the manufacturing plant to ensure reliable operations, minimize downtime, improve efficiency, and support continuous production.

Key duties and responsibilities
a) Monitor and verify equipment parameters at designated control points to ensure optimal performance and compliance with operational standards.
b) Complete assigned tasks and work orders within stipulated timelines and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines.
c) Develop, implement, and maintain calibration schedules and plans for all plant instrumentation and control equipment.
d) Perform instrumentation installation, commissioning, calibration, and validation for newly acquired equipment and systems.
e) Conduct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on plant equipment and instrumentation systems.
f) Collaborate with maintenance technicians and other engineering personnel during equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
g) Configure, program, and maintain PLCs, HMI systems, VFDs, and other automation and control systems.
h) Diagnose machine breakdowns and carry out repairs or coordinate replacement of faulty components.
i) Provide technical support and guidance to machine operators, supervisors, and management to improve machine efficiency and reliability.
j) Install, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot electrical control systems, instrumentation systems, programmable controllers, transmitters, sensors, meters, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and related equipment.
k) Promote and enforce safe working practices by providing technical guidance and participating in safety training and awareness initiatives.
l) Identify and implement equipment modifications and process improvements aimed at reducing operational costs and improving plant efficiency.
m) Monitor the use, maintenance, and operation of instrumentation and process control equipment and recommend improvements where necessary.
n) Oversee and participate in the repair and maintenance of instrumentation systems, components, and related equipment.
o) Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
p) Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration certificates, equipment histories, and technical reports for management review.
q) Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
r) Participate in continuous improvement projects and engineering initiatives aimed at enhancing plant performance.
s) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required
▪ Degree in either Electrical and Electronics Engineering
▪ Minimum of 5 years’ experience

Competencies
Technical & Behavioural competencies
▪ Previous instrumentation experience
▪ Pneumatic systems experience
▪ Experience in diagnostic and system controls
▪ PLC controls and programming
▪ Experience in handling compressors
▪ Digital instruments knowledge – thermometers
▪ Electronics repairs
▪ Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements-Ability to interpret control system software for the purpose of diagnostic troubleshooting
▪ Ability to pass electrical, electronic and digital equipment troubleshooting tests
▪ Ability to troubleshoot electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment
▪ Ability to interpret installation specifications, wiring schematics, instrument drawings and component diagrams
▪ Ability to define specifications and requisition instrumentation and control equipment
▪ Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions
▪ Ability to work independently and as a team member
▪ Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport
▪ Ability to operate diagnostic equipment (multimeter, calibrator, oscilloscope, etc.)
