Job descriptions & requirements

  • GAIN is seeking to recruit an IT Project Manager-Finance Systems Transformation (Business Central) to manage the implementation of its cloud-based finance management information system, improving financial processes and bringing programme, grant and entity information together across GAIN.
  • This role will be offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. This advert closes on 6th November 2026. GAIN encourages early applications and reserves the right to close the advert ahead of the advertised deadline if we receive a high volume of interest.

Key Responsibilities include.

  • Coordinate the migration from Microsoft Dynamics NAV version 14, Vena and GAIN’s SharePoint sourcing tool to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, working towards the planned go-live date of 1 July 2027.
  • Bring Finance, IT and business users together to map processes and translate requirements into practical improvements to workflows, reporting and automation.
  • Coordinate the cleansing, migration and validation of more than ten years of transactional data, ensuring accountable owners reconcile results and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate integrations with enterprise systems, including Salesforce, aligning requirements, technical dependencies and testing with consultants, developers and architects.
  • Organise user acceptance testing, track defects through to resolution and coordinate cutover and go-live readiness, securing acceptance decisions from the relevant owners.
  • Prepare users for new processes through clear communication, coordinated training and super-user support, and arrange documentation, operational handover and post-go-live support.
  • Manage day-to-day coordination with the implementation partner and teams across GAIN, securing contributions, tracking deliverables and resolving or escalating obstacles.
  • Maintain the integrated project plan and budget, manage risks, dependencies and proposed changes, and provide clear progress reports and decision papers to project leadership.

About you

  • You will bring a strong record of delivering finance-system migrations or ERP implementations, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with a practical understanding of migration from Dynamics NAV. Your experience will span data cleansing and migration, systems integration, testing and deployment, working with external implementation partners and internal teams. You will understand the finance, budgeting, grants and reporting needs of non-profit organisations and have delivered projects across multiple countries or entities.
  • You will be comfortable connecting finance and technical teams, translating requirements clearly and securing action from colleagues and suppliers without relying on line-management authority. Organised and analytical, you will balance attention to detail with overall delivery priorities, manage competing demands against a fixed deadline and exercise sound judgement when resolving or escalating issues. Strong written and spoken English, clear reporting and the ability to collaborate across time zones are essential, alongside experience helping users adopt new systems through training, change support and operational handover.
