ABOUT THE COMPANY

GIZ, the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, provides services in the field of international technical cooperation worldwide. In Kenya, it has been active since 1964, and up to now implements programs in a wide variety of areas, including economic development, green energy and water, governance, food security, and peace and security. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is GIZ’s main commissioning party. However, GIZ as well works closely with the private sector, fostering successful interaction between development policy and foreign trade.

JOB SUMMARY

The "Promotion of Women Employment and Green Industry Project" commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) funded by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) is a strategic response to pressing issues within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Kenya. The project addresses youth unemployment, gender imbalances and is embedding environmentally sustainable practices in TVET (Green TVET). The initiative operates on the principle of fostering an inclusive and market-relevant dual TVET approach by building strong collaborations between industry and TVET institutions, with emphasis on nurturing the talents of young individuals, especially young women. The dual TVET approach (hereinafter called D-TVET) combines theoretical classroom learning at TVET Institutions with practical, hands-on experience in a company setting, providing students with a well-rounded skill set for immediate applicability in the workforce and contribution to economic growth.The WEGI project seeks to fill the position of Junior Advisor with the following responsibilities and tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Responsibilities:The Junior Advisor Supports the project team in the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of project activities. Specifically, the Junior Advisor is responsible for:Supporting Industry involvement measures, including engagement, coordination, and communication with industry partners and TVET institutions.Providing coordination, Monitoring, and documentation support for project activities in line with GIZ standards.Contributing to knowledge management, communication, and reporting within the project and partners.Supporting advisory and administrative tasks as delegated by the project coordinator and project team.B. TasksIn this context, the Junior Advisor fulfils the following tasks:Industry engagementSupport in the design of measures to increase industry engagement including outreach, communications and engagement campaignsMonitor the participation and engagement levels of industry partners and propose follow-up actions where needed.Support the coordination between TVET institutions and industry partners to ensure smooth implementation of cooperative/dual training activities. Coordination and monitoringSupport the M&E system of the project such as data collection, monitoring of tracer studies, organization of M&E field visitsSupport the planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspectsContribute to the preparation of activity reports, technical summaries, and input into project reporting formatsContribute to cross-cutting project themes, such as gender equality, disability inclusion, digitalisation, and sustainability (green skills).Performs other duties and tasks at the request of managementKnowledge managementSupport in drafting concepts, TORs and other relevant project documentationAssists in communicating, updating and collecting information for monitoring and reportingOrganizes and update project documentation and the filing systemC.
