ABOUT THE COMPANY
GIZ, the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, provides services in the field of international technical cooperation worldwide. In Kenya, it has been active since 1964, and up to now implements programs in a wide variety of areas, including economic development, green energy and water, governance, food security, and peace and security. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is GIZ’s main commissioning party. However, GIZ as well works closely with the private sector, fostering successful interaction between development policy and foreign trade.
JOB SUMMARY
The Employment for Women for the Green Transformation in Africa (WE4D) Kenya is a regional Programme implemented in six partner countries in sub-Sahara Africa (Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi). Through cooperation with private and public sector partners WE4D develops and implements new and innovative partnership projects.The partnership projects aim to promote employment through skills development (labour market supply) and enterprise development (labour market demand) in selected green sectors with focus on women.WE4D in Kenya seeks to recruit two Junior Technical Advisors to support in the areas listed below.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Junior Technical Advisor supports:Partnership projects and interventions and provides technical advice in green skills development, entrepreneurship and matching initiatives with focus on women.Cooperation with the private sector and other key stakeholders from training institutions, civil society, government and international cooperation for the creation of green jobs (with a focus on women)Programme internal and external communication and knowledge management and the communication of the partnership projects.Monitoring and steering of the partnership projects, including updates for the programme monitoring and reporting systemAssist the programme in the implementation of management activities and advising in technical issues in coordination with the other advisors and consultants.A. TasksThe Junior Technical Advisor performs the following tasks:Support implementation of strategies and measures to promote to promote skills development and entrepreneurship for employment, with special focus on green sectors, women-led MSMEs and women access to green jobs.Support skills development and enterprise development partnerships projects and measures in coordination with the partners (training institutions, private sector, government, etc): e.g., organization and moderation of planning workshops, preparation of partnership technical and contractual documents, advise during the implementation, monitor expenditures and coordinate monitoring and documentation of agreed activities and results, as well as project communication.Support the development of strategies, tools and concepts (e.g. in the areas of women economic empowerment, green jobs, entrepreneurship, etc.) to improve the implementation and achievement of results of the programme.Support consultancies (development of concepts, Tor's, contracting of consultants,coaching and guiding consultants, quality checks of consultant reports) and procurement processes. Promote networking, cooperation and communication with relevant stakeholders, as wellas the organization of internal and partner meetings and participate in relevant meetings directly related to the programme. Provide data, information and feedback for regular programme progress monitoring and reporting. Support the external and internal programme communication, tools and activities andsupport partners in communication related issues.Document relevant activities, results and lessons learnt and share regularly information within the programme teamPromote knowledge management and file relevant documents in the project systems.B. Required qualifications, competences and experienceQualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (business administration, Technical Education or other programme related discipline). Additional qualifications in the area of development cooperation and/or in the areas of TVET, employment promotion and/or privatesector development, green transition and women economic empowerment are an assetKnowledge of labour market, vocational education and private sector development.Professional experienceAt least 2 years of professional experience in skills development and/or private sector development. Vocational training and MSME skills development in green transition and womeneconomic empowerment are an asset. Experience in project work and in the promotion of partnerships and networks with different stakeholders. Experience with training institutions and partnerships with the private sector are an asset.Other knowledge, additional competencesInterest and knowledge of tools in topics women empowerment and green jobs.Intercultural competence working with local and international teams.
