Job descriptions & requirements
Collect, sort, and record soiled linen from various hospital departments.
Operate laundry equipment including washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment in accordance with hospital procedures.
Wash, dry, fold, and prepare linen, patient garments, and staff uniforms for redistribution.
Ensure proper segregation and handling of contaminated or infectious linen according to infection prevention guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area at all times.
Monitor and report damaged linen, equipment faults, or shortages to the supervisor.
Ensure proper storage and distribution of clean linen to hospital departments.
Follow safety procedures when handling detergents, chemicals, and laundry equipment.
Support inventory control of linen and laundry supplies.
Adhere to hospital policies, hygiene standards, and occupational health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements
- KCSE certificate or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role, preferably in a hospital or institutional setting, will be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and infection control practices.
- Ability to operate laundry machines and equipment.
- Physically fit and able to handle laundry loads and stand for extended periods.
