Location: Nairobi with local travel as needed

Purpose of the position
The Legal Officer will be responsible for assisting 4G Capital in general legal activities, continuous risk assessments of the Company operations and mitigation of potential risks.
Job brief
The Legal Officer will be part of the growing 4G Capital Legal Team. Under the direction of the Head of Legal, the Legal Officer will contribute to the Team’s efforts in meeting the goals and objectives of the Department.
The Legal Officer will attend to litigation matters and shall be expected to provide expertise on commercial contract (reviewing and drafting) and support on legal issues relating to the functions, structures and activities of the organization. The position holder will also offer support on issues of legal and regulatory framework and corporate governance.
Responsibilities & Duties
• Draft, review and analyse legal agreements including service level agreements for service support and delivery Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements Provide analysis of legislation and its impact on the organisation Provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, procedures Review and advice management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
• Degree from a recognised University (preferably LLB);
• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya (or its equivalent)
• Current practicing certificate
• Awareness of national laws
• Have a firm understanding of contract law and tax law
• Ability to create training material and conduct trainings
• Comfortable in creating and presenting reports.
• Knowledge of national regulatory bodies
• Knowledge of contract drafting
• Workable knowledge of presentation, database, spreadsheet and word-processing software.
