ABOUT THE COMPANY
Founded in 1969, the German School Nairobi (DSN) is a German speaking school abroad accredited by the The Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The German School Nairobi is authorised to carry out Secondary School final examinations and to award the High School diploma / school leaving examination certificate. It is our mission to provide a German school education system for German and foreign-speaking children in Kenya that will guide them towards attaining these certificates or enable them to reintegrate into the inner-German school system upon returning to Germany.
The responsible body of the German School Nairobi is the German School Society of Nairobi, founded in 1964. All parents of children enrolled in the school automatically become members of the Society.
JOB SUMMARY
Qualifications, skills and expectations:Secondary school certificate.Valid Lifeguard Certification from a recognized authority (e.g. Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, or equivalent).Mandatory certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard, preferably in a school, hotel, or community pool environment.Facility maintenance skills in will be an added advantage.Excellent swimming and rescue abilities are required.Experience working with children in a multicultural setting.Strong sense of responsibility and alertness.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children.Calm and confident under pressure with quick decision-making ability.Physically fit and capable of performing rescues and first aid.Team player with a positive, professional, and respectful attitude.Commitment to child safeguarding and learner welfareMethod of ApplicationYour application, accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae should be submitted with the subject line as job title via email
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pool Supervision and SafetyMonitor all pool activities to ensure the safety of swimmers at all times.Enforce pool rules and regulations consistently and professionally.Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and immediately respond to distress, accidents, or emergencies.Administer first aid, CPR, or emergency care as needed.Conduct safety briefings before swimming sessions for learners and staff.Pool Maintenance and OperationsCheck water quality (pH and chlorine levels) daily and record results.Inspect and report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance needs.Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pool area, changing rooms, and storage spaces.Ensure proper use and storage of safety equipment and supplies.Support to Sports and School ProgramsAssist in the supervision of swimming lessons, PE classes, and extracurricular swimming activities.Provide support during school swimming galas, competitions, and other aquatic events.Collaborate closely with the Extracurricular Department and Health & Safety teams to maintain a safe swimming environment.Health, Safety and ComplianceAdhere to all school and national health and safety policies and regulations.Participate in emergency response drills and professional development training.Keep accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, maintenance, and attendance logs.
