LOANS AND CREDIT OFFICER
Job summary
Our client, a micro finance company is looking to hire Loans/Collection Officers for their operations, based in Nairobi.
Job descriptions & requirements
Duties and responsibilities will include among others;
Market the loan portfolio products to the target clients, converting potential leads into customers, updating the marketing feedback track via Google, on a daily basis.
Evaluate the credit-worthiness of applicants through interviews and financial analysis.
Process and verify loan applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required documentation.
Determine relevant risk factors and establish appropriate debt repayment plans.
Clearly justify loan approval or rejection decisions and prepare corresponding reports.
Send customer financial statements for MPESA/banks to the Verification Department for affordability checks.
Respond to client inquiries, providing clear and accurate information about loan products, eligibility criteria, and terms.
Counsel clients on loan policies, repayment responsibilities, and available options.
Maintain a strong knowledge base of all loan products and services offered by the organization.
Build long-term, trusting relationships with clients to ensure loyalty and satisfaction.
Document all client interactions and follow-up actions in the loan origination system.
Monitor loan performance and flag potential issues for timely resolution.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, lending policies, and internal guidelines.
Identify client needs and offer suitable loan products accordingly.
Develop referral networks and promote loan services to new and existing customers.
Collections Activities
Contact clients with overdue accounts and inform them of their repayment obligations.
Advise clients on payment options and propose suitable repayment plans based on their circumstances.
Maintain accurate records of customer payment history.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills
Proven work experience as a Business Development Executive
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Ability to sell
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of business operations and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Industry knowledge
Computer skills
Diploma in Business, Finance, or a related field (Degree is an added advantage).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a lending or financial institution.
Proficient in loan management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Educational background: Minimum Diploma in Marketing or related study.
Experience: At least 2 years’ previous experience working in a lending institution.
