General Purpose
Our client, a market leader in the manufacturing and distribution of premium luxury food products including ice cream and chocolates across the East African region, is looking to recruit a Logistics Assistant to support the day-to-day transport and distribution operations by coordinating deliveries, maintaining fleet and fuel records, monitoring cold chain compliance, managing logistics documentation, and ensuring efficient dispatch operations while supporting delivery teams to achieve service excellence.
Location: Kampala - Uganda| Gross Salary: UGX 1,350,000
Duties & Responsibilities
• Maintain custody of fuel cards and coordinate scheduled vehicle fueling.
• Monitor fuel consumption and maintain accurate fuel and maintenance records.
• Ensure prepaid fuel cards are topped up promptly to avoid operational interruptions.
• Report vehicle breakdowns and service requirements to the Logistics Supervisor.
• Track deliveries in real time using tracking applications and phone communication.
• Coordinate delivery issues promptly to ensure timely customer deliveries.
• Monitor and enforce cold chain procedures to maintain required delivery temperatures.
• Prepare daily logistics reports covering temperature records, delivery timelines, and outlet performance.
• Supervise truck cleaning, sanitization, and pre-cooling before loading.
• Ensure full compliance with dispatch procedures and loading schedules.
• Allocate routes and assignments to Delivery Executives (DEs) and drivers for maximum efficiency.
• Supervise, coach, and continuously train drivers and Delivery Executives.
• Coordinate staff welfare matters including PPE, uniforms, gloves, raincoats, and other protective equipment.
• Monitor daily attendance, discipline, grooming, and professional conduct of delivery teams.
• Ensure all invoices, delivery notes, freezer delivery notes, and contracts are properly signed and stamped.
• Confirm all dispatched route documents are returned, reconciled, and filed appropriately.
• Scan, organize, and maintain accurate logistics documentation for audit and operational purposes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within transport and logistics operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Logistics Management or a related field.
• CPA-U qualification is mandatory.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in logistics, transport coordination, or fleet operations.
• Experience in FMCG distribution will be an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of fleet management systems and logistics documentation.
