The representative will conduct field visits to pharmacies and pharmaceutical distributors to identify medicine procurement challenges, assess the demand for imported medicines, introduce the company’s offering, and record readiness to cooperate.
Purpose of the role
This is a field market-research role, not a classic sales position. The company is at the market research stage in Kenya.
The project verifies one core hypothesis: will these potential clients work with us if we cover their needs and pain points on specific terms? To answer it, the representative identifies problem areas in medicine procurement at pharmacies and pharmaceutical wholesalers: product lines that are difficult to source, positions with supply interruptions, price or quality issues, and other constraints buyers face — so that the company can focus its offering on solving exactly these problems.
Priority segment: small and mid-size companies.
Along the way, the representative builds a verified base of outlets and purchasing decision makers and introduces the company to potential clients.
Scope and engagement terms
Parameter Terms
Location: Nairobi as the central base; other cities are also considered where there are clients worth covering
Engagement: Project-based contractor, piece-rate pay per completed client card; not permanent employment at this stage
Workload: Part-time: the workload can be combined with other work or projects, if the candidate has any
Expenses: Transport and other agreed field expenses are covered by the company, separately from the per-card pay
Duration: Initial research stage: 1–2 months
Start: As soon as possible
Responsibilities
● Plan and carry out field visits to pharmacies and pharmaceutical wholesalers — primarily in Nairobi, with other cities covered where there are clients worth the visit.
● Verify each outlet (operating, licensed) and identify the purchasing decision maker, with direct contacts: name, role, phone, email.
● Find out which specific product lines are problematic for the buyer and why: availability, supply reliability, pricing, quality, documents, regulatory constraints.
● Record current suppliers and the outlet's attitude to imported generics (primarily Indian-made). Introduce the company and its offering during the visit.
● Ask the key cooperation question — "If we cover these needs on certain terms (price / lead time / volume), would you start working with us?" — and record the answer together with the client's conditions.
● Obtain the client's written confirmation of the answer (WhatsApp or email) and attach it to the card. Complete a client needs card for each outlet (structure below); report after each stage in the agreed format; weekly sync with the BD manager.
Compensation structure
Piece-rate per fully completed client card; indicative total USD 55 per card, paid in parts:
Component >Share > Indicative USD > Paid for
Base > 50% > 27.50 > The completed visit and data collection — the core payment, since no sales commission exists at the research stage
Depth bonus > 25% > 13.75 > A complete, detailed, verified needs card (quality of insight, not the fact of a visit)
Verified intention bonus > 25% > 13.75 > Each clear "yes" or clear "no" with a reason, confirmed in writing
Stage completion bonus > +10% > 5.50 > Paid at the end of the stage for reliable overall conclusions (sufficient sample, verified data), regardless of whether the hypothesis is confirmed
Additional terms: transport and other agreed field expenses are covered separately; there is no cap on the number of cards — the total for the stage is agreed together before the start. Final amounts and the payment schedule are fixed in the contract.
