JOB SUMMARY
To provide comprehensive cancer care by specializing in the use of radiation therapy for tumortreatment and symptom management, ensuring accurate planning, precise delivery, and thoroughpatient follow-up and support.Key Qualifications and Experience Requirementsi. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from an institution recognized by the Kenya MedicalPractitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.ii. Master's degree in Medicine in Radiation Oncology or equivalent from an institutionrecognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.iii. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.iv. Retention in the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council register.v. Recognition as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.vi. Valid Practice License as a specialist from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’Council.vii. Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Interpreting diagnostic imaging and pathology reports to facilitate accurate treatmentplanning.ii. Developing individualized radiation treatment plans in collaboration with medicalphysicists and radiation therapy technologists.iii. Prescribing and overseeing the administration of external beam radiation, brachytherapy,and other radiation modalities.iv. Monitoring patients during and after radiation therapy to assess treatment response andmanage side effects or complications.v. Collaborating with multidisciplinary oncology teams to coordinate comprehensive cancercare.vi. Communicating treatment plans, expected outcomes, and post-treatment care to patientsand families.vii. Participating in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case discussions.viii. Engaging in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous medicaleducation in radiation oncology.ix. Mentoring junior doctors, interns, and medical students in oncology practice.x. Any other duty as may be assigned.
