Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-grade network solutions, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and VPN architectures.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless radios (Mikrotik, Cisco, Cambium).
• Manage and support network services such as DHCP, DNS, PPPoE, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, and NAT.
• Oversee and participate in fiber optic network planning, installation, splicing, and testing.
• Conduct advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of network outages, latency, and performance issues.
• Monitor network performance using tools such as The Dude, NetXMS, PRTG, or similar.
• Plan and lead network expansion projects, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure network security through proper configuration, regular audits, and firewall management.
• Document network designs, configurations, IP address allocations, and technical procedures.
• Provide second-level support to field technicians and assist in resolving escalated client issues.
• Research and recommend emerging technologies and tools to improve operations and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with industry best practices and internal policies regarding uptime, safety, and performance.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, preferably in an ISP or ICT company.
• Proven experience configuring and managing Mikrotik and Cisco networking devices.
• Practical knowledge of fiber optic systems, splicing, and PTP/PTMP wireless technologies.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of networking protocols: TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and QoS.
• Proficient in VPN setup (IPSec, L2TP, SSTP), firewall rules, VLANs, and subnetting.
• Experience with network security, intrusion detection, and access control.
• Skilled in using diagnostic and monitoring tools ( Winbox, NetXMS, SolarWinds).
• Basic knowledge of Linux networking is a plus.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Mikrotik (MTCNA, MTCRE, MTCINE)
• Cisco (CCNA, CCNP)
• Fiber optic technician certification
• CompTIA Network+ or equivalent

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call support
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
