JOB SUMMARY

Requirements:Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institutionRegistered with The Physiotherapy Council of KenyaCertificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)Preferably 1-year experience as a physiotherapist

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct initial evaluation and assessment of patients referred for physiotherapyIdentify treatment goals and appropriate therapy techniques and proceed to administer themConduct patient and family educationTo conduct regular evaluation of patients to assess progress and response to therapy, revise treatment program as necessary to achieve goalsTo evaluate the patient’s need for assistive, supportive and adaptive devicesMaintain daily treatment notes evaluation of patient’s progress and discharge planning notes and summariesAssign patients to physiotherapy assistants or interns with laid out treatment plans and supervise their treatmentTo control infection by observing hygiene rulesMaintain professional proficiency through review of current literature and attendance into continuing medical education programs in line with the physiotherapy accreditation requirementsTo have a full knowledge of the hospital policies & procedures, protocols, guidelines and adhere to the sameCarry out clinical and service audits and plan and evaluate improvement of servicesSupervising and delegating tasks to physiotherapy assistants and service attendantsEnsuring functionality of equipment by participating in regular maintenance/monitoring & testing to ensure minimum equipment downtimeParticipate in planning and implementation of department goals and objectives to enable optimal performanceObserve and comply with environmental health and occupational safety measuresParticipate in the implementation of quality initiative and patient safety programsResponsibility for CCPC programes as may be assignedAny other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor or designee
