Over the years we’ve converted hundreds of containers for a wide range of applications, including shops, homes, catering, office, retail, rental assets, and industrial structures at our manufacturing yard in Nairobi, Kenya. Our team delivers structures 30-50% faster than traditional construction methods ensuring customer satisfaction from initial discussions, ideas, sketches or structural drawings, building, logistics and installation of the final product. Job brief As Production manager and director in construction you will direct and co-ordinate resources for the construction and maintenance of civil and structural engineering works including houses, flats, roads and runways, bridges, tunnels and railway works, and water supply, drainage and sewage works.Plan construction projects and oversee their progress along the way in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the projects. ResponsibilitiesCommon tasks include: Liaise with other managers to plan overall production activity and construction activities, sets quality standards and estimates timescales and costs;Receive invitations to tender, arrange for estimates and liaises with client, architect and engineers for the preparation of contracts;Plan, direct and co-ordinate the construction and maintenance of civil and structural engineering works, including demolition, open-cast mining works and pipeline and piling;Receive reports upon work in progress to ensure that materials and construction methods meet with specifications and statutory requirements and that there are no deviations from agreed plans.Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completionReview the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costsOversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulationsCoordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractorsSelect tools, materials and equipment and track inventoryMeet contractual conditions of performanceReview the work progress on daily basisPrepare internal and external reports pertaining to job statusPlan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging onesNegotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licencesAnalyse, manage and mitigate risksEnsure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques Requirements and skills Proven working experience in construction managementAdvanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methodsExpert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standardsUnderstanding of all facets of the construction processFamiliarity with construction management software packagesAbility to plan and see the “big picture”Competent in conflict and crisis managementLeadership and human resources management skillsExcellent time and project management skillsBS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field
