ABOUT THE COMPANY

Tropical Heat was established in 1973 as a small ethnic snack cottage industry. Today, we are one of the leading manufacturers of spices and snacks in the East African region and our brand Tropical Heat is a household name in Kenya.
With our very strong and expert technical team, we manufacture a vast range of spices and snacks. The spices include pure spices, herbs, seasonings, masalas and salts. Snack items comprise of potato crisps, ethnic snacks, Kenyan chevda, peanuts, rice cakes and extruded snacks.
Our manufacturing processes are fully automated in a brand new hygienic factory, which is also HACCP and ISO22000 certified.
A strong export base has been built up with exports going to Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, Burundi, UK and the USA.

JOB SUMMARY

Qualifications and ExperienceDiploma or degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.Minimum 5 to 8 years’ production experience in spices, powder blends, seasonings, or food manufacturing.Strong understanding of blending technologies, milling systems, sieving, and powder handling.Knowledge of allergen management, flavour integrity, and quality control processes.Strong leadership and ability to run multiple lines in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesOversee daily production of spices, blends, herbs, seasonings, and masalas.Manage teams across weighing, blending, grinding, sieving, packing, and line changeovers.Execute production plans and ensure consistent adherence to recipes and specifications.Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, allergen control, and cross-contamination prevention.Ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO, FSSC, GMP, and relevant regulatory requirements.Collaborate with R&D on new blends, NPD trials, and flavour consistency improvements.Maintain batch integrity, traceability, and accurate documentation.Reduce losses, improve yields, and strengthen line efficiency and OEE metrics.Coordinate preventive maintenance with engineering teams to minimise breakdowns.Oversee packing machines, labellers, coding systems, and quality checkpoints.Develop, coach, and supervise production staff for improved skills and performance
