JOB SUMMARY
Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants must possess:An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:PhD in Old Testament Studies;PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field from an accredited institution;A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;Minimum of twelve (12) years of university teaching, research, and academic leadership experience, including at least three (3) years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent;Distinguished record of scholarly publications and recognized contributions in the relevant field;Successful supervision of Master’s and PhD students to completion;Evidence of successful acquisition, management, and implementation of research, consultancy, or development grants from recognized funding agencies;Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Professor;Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;Demonstrated commitment to Adventist philosophy of education, mission, and values;Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide academic and research leadership within the Department, School, and University;ii. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;iii. Develop, review, and evaluate academic programmes;iv. Supervise Master’s and PhD research projects and theses;v. Lead curriculum development, quality assurance, and accreditation initiatives;vi. Conduct and publish high-quality research in reputable peer-reviewed journals;vii. Mentor faculty members and postgraduate students;viii. Prepare, administer, moderate, and mark examinations;ix. Participate in strategic planning and policy formulation;x. Represent the University in academic, professional, church, and community engagements;xi. Mobilize resources and support research, consultancy, and grant-funded initiatives;xii. Participate in academic administration and institutional governance;xiii. Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
