SUMMARY OF ROLE:Â Â
The position looks for a results-driven and ethical accountant with strong analytical skills to manage and improve the efficiency of the organization. The project accountant will work closely with the Finance & Compliance Manager and will be responsible for ensuring complete accuracy of all finance transactions related to the project and to manage all financial aspects of projects from budget preparation to project execution.
RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
• Maintaining the project reports and creating bespoke financial reports
• Analysing all project expenses and providing commentary
• Maintaining project records and contracts to ensure terms are adhered to
• Reviewing current processes for management accounts preparation and streamlining across business
• Liaising with auditors during project audits.
• Ensuring robust financial reporting across business
• Business Partnering with non-finance managers in order to develop processes and the understanding of financial requirements
• Developing financial systems along with IT support to make processes more user friendly
• Ensuring all transactions are supported by adequate documentation before approval (Travel Request Forms, Tickets, invoices & receipts, contracts, Boarding passes, participants list) Â
• Responding to Donors request for clarificationsÂ
• Preparing budget templates for different projects.Â
• Providing narrative (financial) for any reports Â
• Preparing activity budgets for different workshops. Â
• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.Â
• Ensuring the accuracy of financial documents, as well as their compliance with relevant laws and regulationsÂ
• Preparing and maintaining Companywide financial reports Â
• Assist with procurement, ensuring that activity is in line with approved procurement ceilings and procedures. This includes supporting the sourcing and analysis of quotes to ensure the company gets value for money, following up with suppliers and maintaining procurement files and transactions.Â
• Ensure office assets are monitored, secured and maintained through updating the asset register, registering/tagging assets, insuring fixed assets and safe storage.Â
• Any other related duty as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• Proven working experience as project accountant.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• 5 years working experience.
• Hold a CPA title in good standing. Â
• Audit Experience will be an added Advantage
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience on spreadsheets tools such as; Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
• Strong Communication and organizational skills
