Job Description (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in that works in more than 30 countries throughout the world. Overall purpose of the role:The Physiotherapist will be responsible for the provision of physiotherapy service for persons with physical disabilities, disorders and injuries including children and elderly persons in Kakuma and Kalobeyei. Under the supervision of the PSN officer and in collaboration with other PSN assistants and in consultation with the medical partners’ staff s/he will identify, assess and make treatment plans with appropriate interventions in physiotherapy with the beneficiaries. S/he will directly supervise a number of PSN community incentive staff.Responsibilities:R1. Physiotherapy Case management: Identify persons with physiotherapy needs.Conduct comprehensive assessment to persons of concern with regards their rehabilitation needs and based on the assessment, identify problems and develop a treatment plan for interventions with the beneficiary, in consultation with the medical professionals.Conduct home visits/ follow up sessions to monitor on the progress of persons of concern, conducting, advising on techniques and exercises.Prescribe, procure, provide and train persons of concern on the use of assistive and/or mobility devices to beneficiaries.Ensure good communication, with help of translators, with beneficiaries at all times throughout assessment, setting of goals and explanation of treatment.Conduct referrals of vulnerable Persons with disability to partner agencies and follow up to facilitate access to external services not offered by DRC.Document beneficiary data accurately and maintain a secure beneficiary database and activity documentation of all beneficiaries.Accurately update the PSN database and tracker on a regular basis for all beneficiaries and interventions conducted at the field level. R2. Community Engagement and Outreach: Participate in sensitization, dialogue and mediation sessions with the wider population about issues of persons with disability for support in identification of vulnerable cases.Identify and strengthen Community structures through engaging community leaders, camp management and other stakeholders to ensure that the persons of concern receive adequate support at the community level.Attend and instruct planned trainings for parents and caregivers within the community. R3. Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist in preparing daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, progress notes, on timeUse appropriate data collection tools and submit assessments and reports in a timely and accurate mannerWork closely with the refugee staff to ensure quality reportingAssist in the designing, planning, implementing and facilitating of external trainings for staff and community membersEnsure Core Humanitarian Standards are mainstreamed in the day to day project implementationAttend relevant training forums relevant to the jobAssist with any other related activities as deemed necessary by the supervisor R4. Staff Management and Development: Provide supervision to the community workers and ensure effective provision of physiotherapy services.Conduct continuous performance/evaluation for the community staff working under her/him.Conduct regular formal and on-job training and mentorship to community workers on areas related to case management for persons of concern to enhance professionalism.Conduct regular multidisciplinary case conference meetings with national staff and community workers both at individual and group levels.Organize for external capacity building forums on PwDs needsEnsure staff timesheets are done and submitted to HR on time on a monthly basis. RequirementsExperience and technical competencies: At least 3 years of experience working in physiotherapy with vulnerable persons; with at least 1 – year experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and/or other in a camp setting.Must have technical expertise in case management and psychosocial support to persons with disability.Should be resilient and able to handle high levels of stress and emotionally volatile or difficult situations.Experience in establishing and working with community structures including community leadersExperience and proven ability to work as part of a teamExcellent analytical and writing skills; cultural sensitivity and respect for diversityExcellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with local partners and other stakeholdersExperience and willingness to work in the field and proficient in the use of computer/email/internet Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Physical TherapyCertification by the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists with a current practicing license.Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
