MaliBowl is a fast-growing Somali build-your-own bowl concept at Village Market, Nairobi, part of a multi-brand restaurant group. We are looking for a Restaurant Supervisor to lead our team and run the floor to a high standard every single day.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You are the person in charge when the doors are open, the face of the restaurant to our customers, and the leader your team looks to during the rush. You set the pace, hold the standard, and keep service smooth, fast, and friendly from open to close. Behind the scenes, you take full ownership of the operation, costs, people, and reporting, without being chased.
Your day to day:
- Lead daily service across front of house and back of house, from opening to closing
- Be present on the floor during peak hours, driving speed, accuracy, and a great customer experience
- Handle customer questions, complaints, and special requests calmly and turn problems into good outcomes
- Motivate, direct, and support the team through every shift, and step onto any station when short-staffed
- Open and close the restaurant, including cash handling, floats, and end-of-day reconciliation
- Uphold cleanliness, presentation, and brand standards at all times
- Manage stock and waste, run par-level checks, raise requisitions, and chase down variances
- Keep food safety tight, including bain-marie checks, temperatures, labeling, and FIFO
- Build the staff schedule, track attendance, and cover sick calls and no-shows on the day
- Run monthly team training and keep proper records
- Submit clear, typed daily and monthly reports to management and run monthly team meetings
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience supervising or leading a team in a restaurant, cafe, or fast-casual setting
- A natural leader who can command respect, coach a team, and stay calm under pressure
- Strong people and customer-service skills, confident handling the floor and resolving issues live
- Organized and detail-driven, with genuine discipline around reporting and follow-through
- Sharp on numbers, stock, and waste, with an eye for cost control
- Reliable, honest, and consistent, someone management can trust to run the floor unsupervised
- Comfortable with cash handling, POS systems, and basic Google Drive and Docs reporting
