Job Description/Requirements


The safari guides shall join an exceptional team at a newly established owner-operated luxury safari lodge in the Maasai Mara.

The company is looking for safari guides who are:

  • Proudly Kenyan
  • Passionate about the bush and sharing it with others
  • Willing and keen to keep learning
  • Well-versed in ecological themes, as well as the identification of the flora and fauna of Kenya, particularly in the Maasai Mara
  • Driven by guest delight and a high-touch service culture (for up to 60 guests in camp)
  • Experienced in hosting sophisticated and discerning international travellers
  • Team players, yet can be independent and work with less supervision

Successful candidates will join a highly-motivated team of roughly 15 guides and 140 total staff at The company, and would need to firmly believe in and subscribe to the company values, especially those relating to connecting guests to the Kenyan safari experience.  Applicants should be highly-motivated, flexible, responsible, and charismatic, while maintaining The company’s creative hospitality philosophy of guest delight, safety, privacy, and tailor-made experiences.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a world-class guest experience in line with The company’s hospitality philosophy
  • Delivering a high-quality safari experience through interpretive guiding and story-telling that ultimately connects guests to their environment
  • Creating moments that take The company’s guests’ breath away
  • Knowing each guests' journey and where The company fits in
  • Communicating effectively with all other guides and providing a detailed handover of guests to one another
  • Communicating effectively with all other relevant staff in the lodge to ensure the perfect stay for guests
  • Preparing for the specific guests’ safari for the day
  • Preparing vehicles with all necessary items prior to each outing in a well-presented manner, and dismantling and cleaning after each outing
  • Conducting game drives and bush walks safely
  • Preparing tea and meals in the bush in a well-presented manner
  • Caring for guests and keeping their best interests and safety in mind at all times
  • Practicing "Leave No Trace" methods
  • Protecting guest privacy
  • Reporting to the Head Guide (post-trip report, guests' experience, etc.)

Qualifications required:

  • KPSGA Professional Bronze Level Badge
  • A valid PSV license
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • A CV indicating work experience and education/training background

The next round of interviews will be the afternoon of February 2nd through the morning of February 4th in Nairobi.
