REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
SALARY: 200-250K GROSS

JOB SUMMARY:
The Sales Manager at Nairobi Central Hardware Limited will be responsible for driving sales growth, leading and motivating the sales team, and ensuring the achievement of monthly and annual revenue targets. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies in collaboration with the CEO, introducing new products to the market, identifying and pursuing new customer opportunities, and managing key client relationships. The Sales Manager also oversees telesales operations, enforces sales KPIs and SOPs, and ensures the team delivers exceptional customer service while maximizing market share.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Sales Performance & Revenue Growth
Deliver and contribute to monthly sales targets in line with approved budgets and forecasts.
Track, analyze, and report quarterly sales performance to the CEO.
Take direct accountability for overall sales results, including walk-in and telesales.
2. Sales Strategy & Execution
Formulate sales strategies in collaboration with the CEO to support business growth and profitability.
Translate approved strategies into clear action plans for the sales Department.
Ensure effective execution of sales strategies across all channels.
3. Team Leadership & Management
Lead, supervise, and motivate the sales team in the sales department.
Set clear performance expectations and enforce KPIs and SOPs consistently.
Coach and support the team to improve conversion rates, customer retention, and average order value.
4. Telesales Oversight
Oversee the telesales function to drive repeat business, dormant account reactivation, and upselling.
Set call targets, conversion benchmarks, and reporting standards for the telesales team.
Ensure telesales activities align with overall sales strategy and customer service standards.
5. Market Expansion & Business Development
Chase new markets and customers to increase sales and expand market share.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and key accounts.
Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform sales decisions.
6. Product Introduction & Promotion
Introduce new products to the market in coordination with management and suppliers.
Guide the sales and telesales teams on product knowledge, pricing, and positioning.
Support product launches through targeted sales initiatives and promotions.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Sales Manager – Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in sales, with a strong background in retail distribution
- Proven experience managing and scaling distribution networks across multiple regions
- Demonstrated ability to travel extensively across the country with strong geographical and demographic knowledge
- Fluency in Gujarati will be an added advantage
Leadership & Team Management
- Proven track record of managing teams of 20+ staff
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and drive performance
- Experience in setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and enforcing accountability within the team
Strategic & Analytical Capability
- Strong ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and customer behavior to inform decision-making
- Proven experience in developing, adjusting, and executing route-to-market strategies
- Ability to optimize existing strategies to improve coverage, efficiency, and revenue growth
- Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and sales planning
Commercial & Operational Skills
- Strong understanding of pricing, margins, and product positioning
- Ability to identify new business opportunities and expand market share
- Experience managing key accounts and distributor relationships
Interpersonal & Cultural Fit
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and customers across different cultures
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Positive attitude with an abundance mindset and results-driven approach
