DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Marketing Strategy Execution
- Develop and execute territory-level sales and marketing plans aligned with company objectives.
- Translate company strategy into actionable daily, weekly, and monthly sales activities.
- Ensure promotional activities are properly executed in the market.
Sales Target Planning & Achievement
- Set realistic sales targets by route, outlet, and sales representative.
- Monitor daily sales volumes and coverage to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Take corrective action where performance gaps exist.
Sales Team Supervision & Monitoring
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor salesmen performance.
- Ensure strict adherence to route plans, call frequencies, and coverage requirements.
- Track attendance, productivity, and discipline of the sales team.
Coaching, Motivation & Leadership
- Train salesmen on selling skills, product knowledge, and customer handling.
- Conduct on-the-job coaching during route rides.
- Motivate the team through performance feedback, recognition, and goal setting.
- Build a high-performance, disciplined sales culture.
Route & Distribution Management
- Monitor route efficiency and productivity.
- Accompany delivery trucks to evaluate route execution, customer interaction, and stock handling.
- Ensure optimal utilization of distribution vehicles and sales assets.
Order Management & Stock Availability
- Assign and approve order placements and requisitions.
- Ensure accurate forecasting and ordering to prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
- Guarantee availability of all SKUs across assigned trade outlets.
Sales Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Review sales performance by route, customer segment, and product line.
- Identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities and recommend actions.
Key Account Management
- Manage and grow relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
- Negotiate terms, promotions, and product placement with major customers.
- Ensure service excellence and long-term customer retention.
New Product & Brand Development
- Drive market penetration of new and innovative brands.
- Educate sales teams and customers on new product offerings.
- Monitor acceptance, distribution, and performance of new products.
Customer Relationship & Complaint Handling
- Handle escalated customer complaints professionally and promptly.
- Ensure issues are resolved to maintain customer satisfaction and brand reputation.
- Use feedback to improve service delivery and sales processes.
Systems & Process Compliance
- Ensure accurate use of ERP systems (e.g. PASTEL, DMS).
- Maintain proper sales documentation and reporting discipline.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with the Depot Manager, logistics, finance, and marketing teams.
- Support smooth operations between sales, delivery, and warehouse teams.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Business Administration or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales
- Proven experience in an FMCG environment, preferably within the beverage industry
- Experience managing distribution vehicles
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g. PASTEL, DMS, or similar)
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows)
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Self-driven with excellent motivation and initiative
