Job descriptions & requirements

About the Company
  • Our client is a market leader in the bakery and confectionary distribution industry, serving every corner of the baking and culinary world, from industrial and artisan bakeries to hotels, restaurants, and food service suppliers across Nairobi and beyond.
  • Their portfolio features reputable brands including premium bread and cake pre-mixes, couverture and compound chocolates, custards, dessert spreads, dessert sauces, fondant, glazes, fruit fillings, bakery essentials, and packaging solutions.
  • Backed by a team of culinary experts, they don't just supply ingredients, they provide professional recipes and formulation support to help commercial bakers and pastry chefs achieve consistent, premium results.
  • They are now seeking a rainmaker, a Sales Hunter with deep roots in Nairobi's F&B industry who can start generating revenue from Day One.

Key Responsibilities
1. B2B Wholesale Acquisition (Core Function)
Aggressively prospect and secure business across the baking and culinary sector — from industrial and artisan bakeries to hotels, restaurants, and food service suppliers across Nairobi (Westlands, Kilimani, Karen, Industrial Area, and uptown estates).
  • Leverage your existing contact database to introduce the company's portfolio of premium brands — including pre-mixes, chocolates, dessert spreads, icings, and more — to purchasing managers, head chefs, and bakery owners.
  • Collaborate with the in-house culinary team to showcase professional recipes during client demonstrations and product tastings.

2. Revenue Growth & Account Management
  • Drive recurring weekly/monthly orders by building long-term supply relationships.
  • Introduce bulk subscription models for hotels and large-scale bakeries requiring consistent output.
  • Identify seasonal peaks (Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, wedding seasons) and upsell volume accordingly.
  • Expand into the retail/home-baker segment by promoting retail-packaged products to smaller bakeries and cooking schools.

3. Technical Sales Support
  • Organize product tastings and baking demonstrations for prospective clients alongside the culinary team.
  • Use formulation expertise to demonstrate how the product range solves production challenges like consistency, shelf-life, and yield.
  • Provide on-the-spot technical advice to professional bakers and pastry chefs.

4. Market Intelligence
  • Monitor competitor pricing, product launches, and client preferences within the Nairobi bakery supply chain.
  • Provide feedback to management on emerging trends and unmet needs in the market.
  • Identify new business opportunities and untapped market segments.

Requirements (Strict Criteria)
Requirement Details
1. Industry Experience - Minimum 2+ years of B2B sales experience in bakery ingredients, food commodities, or related FMCG perishables within Kenya. Experience in FMCG, especially chocolates, will be an added advantage.
2. Existing Clientele - Must have a verifiable list of at least 20+ active contacts (purchasing managers, head chefs, bakery owners, and F&B directors) specifically in the Nairobi hospitality, food service, and industrial bakery sectors.
3. Product Knowledge - Familiarity with pre-mixes, chocolates, icings, dessert ingredients, and bakery essentials. Ability to speak the language of professional bakers.
4. Communication - Strong negotiation and presentation skills; capable of pitching to both technical chefs and commercial buyers.
5. Numeracy - Proficient in calculating margins, discounts, volumetric pricing, and ROI for clients on the spot.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
