Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit import/export entries through URA ASYCUDA.
- Verify Bills of Lading, invoices, packing lists, certificates and required permits.
- Coordinate with URA, clearing agents, shipping lines, freight forwarders and border officials.
- Verify duties, VAT, WHT and applicable exemptions or duty drawbacks.
- Manage HS codes, EAC CET requirements and rules of origin.
- Track consignments through Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Busia, Malaba and Katuna.
- Prepare export permits, EUR1 and Certificates of Origin.
- Maintain customs records and import/export registers.
- Handle customs queries, audits, disputes and penalties.
- Advise Procurement on duties, lead times and clearance timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Logistics, International Business, Law or related field.
- Diploma/Certificate in Customs Clearing & Forwarding.
- Minimum 5 years' customs clearance and international trade experience, with 2 years at senior level.
- Strong knowledge of ASYCUDA World, HS classification, EAC CET, URA, UNBS and MAAIF requirements.
- Food/feed, FMCG or agro-processing experience preferred.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to borders and ports.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
