JOB SUMMARY
Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants must possess:An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:PhD in Old Testament Studies;PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field;A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;Minimum of six (6) years of university teaching experience, including at least three (3) years at Lecturer level or equivalent;Evidence of sustained scholarly research and publications in peer-reviewed journals;Experience in postgraduate supervision and student mentorship;Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer;Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;Demonstrated commitment to Adventist education and values;Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;ii. Develop client-driven quality academic programmes;iii. Promote the mission of the Department and the University;iv. Conduct quality research and scholarly publications;v. Mentor students and junior faculty in research activities;vi. Develop teaching materials and learning resources;vii. Participate in the development of University policies and academic documentation;viii. Set, moderate, process, and mark examinations;ix. Present research papers at seminars, workshops, and conferences;x. Advise the Head of Department and Dean on curriculum development and academic matters;xi. Participate in departmental and School meetings and activities;xii. Assist in supervising Assistant Lecturers and Tutorial Fellows;xiii. Serve as an Academic Adviser to students;xiv. Supervise postgraduate students in research activities;xv. Participate in outreach, church, and community engagement programmes;xvi. Perform any other duties assigned by the University Management.
