ABOUT THE COMPANY

Established in the 1970s as Kitere Technical School, our institution was initially created by the local community as a craft apprenticeship training center. However, in the 1980s, the Southern Nyanza region experienced a growing demand for technical and vocational training. Recognizing this need, the Union of South Nyanza Welfare Association (USNWA), a lobby group, approached President Daniel Arap Moi to transform Kitere Technical School into a public institution.

JOB SUMMARY

Requirements for AppointmentFor appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or its equivalent from a recognized training institution with at least three (3) years relevant experience;OR,Higher National Diploma in Public Health or its equivalent from a recognized trainingValid registration certificate from Public Health Officers and Technicians Council of Kenya;Valid Practicing License;Computer literacy; andFulfilled requirements of Chapter Six of Constitution of Kenya 2010.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure compliance with all Laboratories and equipment requirements as per the standards and guidelines provided by the regulator- the Public Health Officers’ & Technicians Council (PHOТС);Coordinate, Plan, Supervise and Assess Public Health field activities;Coordinate placements for Industrial Attachment;Liaise with the County and Sub-County Public Health Officers;Coordinate and plan academic visits;Timetable and plan Public Health Laboratory Practicals;Provide supervisory guidance to public health technologists;Conduct Lab sessions, practical assessments, examinations, grading of laboratory; practicals, Technical drawings and skills Laboratory;Requisition and make logistical arrangements for the collection of office supplies;Maintain Laboratory inventory and record keeping;Ensure maintenance and Repairs of laboratories and department offices;Prepare Laboratory practical teaching manuals, Attachment Logbooks, and updating of the same;Collect Laboratory Specimen, preserve and provide safe storage;Maintenance of Practical Class Attendance Registers;Ensuring safety standards in the Laboratory;Inspect Work Spaces; andPerform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
