TECHNICAL MACHINE OPERATOR (Nairobi & Eldoret)

JOB PURPOSE  

Reporting to Shift Miller the Technical Machine Operator will be responsible for attending to all milling machinery located on the roller floor and ensure proper adjustment of the product as well as maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND KEY RESULTS AREAS

1. Production Plan Execution

• Attend daily production planning meetings (DAB) and ensure timely reservation of all mill consumables.
• Execute production plans effectively with accurate reconciliation of products and additives.

2. Implement Food Safety Objectives

• Ensure production of quality, legally compliant products that meet customer expectations.
• Maintain GMP levels above 90% and implement food safety and quality programs.

3. Grain Cleaning Process

• Maintain equipment efficiency and optimize water addition and grain lying time. Achieve wheat transfer targets (17MT/hr) and ensure proper handling/mixing of screenings.

4. Optimize Grain Conversion

• Maintain extraction rates and implement wheat grist for milling efficiency. And Investigate process losses and ensure adherence to product specifications.

5. Pest Management

• Maintain hygiene through proper sanitation and deep cleaning of equipment.
• Inspect equipment/processes for infestation and support AM/PM maintenance.

6. Maintenance Programs: Perform routine and condition-based equipment inspections, support planned maintenance, troubleshoot using manuals, and participate in autonomous maintenance activities.

7. Continual Improvement Initiatives: Use PaTaMu and PDCA to enhance operations, resolve issues, and engage in training, performance reviews, safety, and cultural programs.

8. Communication & Accountability: Foster clear, face-to-face communication to promote accountability and promptly address or escalate conflicts.

9. Process Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, assist in additive reconciliation, generate reports, and support stock take and variance management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Food Science and Technology
• Minimum two (2) years of work experience in FMCG
• Vast experience in Machine Operations and Maintenance 
• Experience in grain processing 
• Good understanding of Autonomous Maintenance (AM)
• Trouble shooting skills
• Computer proficiency in MS Office
