Ideal Inks & Coatings Ltd is seeking a driven Technical Sales Executive to grow our presence in Kenya’s printing and packaging industry. This role is ideal for a technically strong salesperson with experience in printing inks, coatings, packaging, or industrial chemicals, who understands press operations and can convert technical trials into long-term commercial business.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Sales & Business Development
* Identify and convert new B2B customers in flexographic and gravure printing, packaging, and manufacturing.
* Conduct technical presentations, press trials, and product demonstrations.
* Support converters in optimizing flexo/gravure ink performance (solvent and water-based), focusing on press stability, drying efficiency, colour consistency, and overall cost-in-use.
* Lead customers from trial stage to commercial adoption.
* Manage key accounts and grow revenue through upselling and cross-selling.
Revenue & Pipeline Management
* Achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
* Maintain a strong sales pipeline with clear conversion timelines.
* Prepare accurate forecasts and close deals within agreed pricing and margin frameworks.
* Re-engage dormant or lost accounts.
Customer & Account Management
* Act as the primary technical and commercial contact for customers.
* Resolve technical issues in collaboration with production and QC teams.
* Build long-term relationships to ensure customer retention and growth.
Commercial Discipline
* Ensure timely collections in line with agreed credit terms.
* Work closely with finance to follow up on overdue accounts.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical / Industrial Engineering, Sales & Marketing or Business Administration.
* A strong technical background is essential.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in technical B2B sales
* Experience in inks, coatings, flexo & gravure printing, paint industry, or industrial chemicals
* Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
* Experience managing key accounts and technical sales cycles
* Kenyan market experience required
* Valid driver’s license
Skills
* Strong understanding of ink and coating systems, printing, and label conversion.
* Ability to translate technical specifications into commercial value
* Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills
* Proficiency in Excel and CRM/ERP systems
