The Training Officer plays a critical role in strengthening the implementation of both the RISE curriculum as well as Girls First Institute programming across partner organizations in Kenya and beyond. The position focuses on supporting the pedagogical and programmatic quality of delivery by working closely with partners, facilitators, schools.

Job descriptions & requirements

Program Implementation, Training & Partner Support

  • Work closely with the team including Training Manager / Associate Director and the Girls First Institute Director to provide technical and programmatic support to RISE and Girls First Institute implementing partners, ensuring fidelity to curricula and high-quality learning outcomes.
  • Support the design, planning, and facilitation of facilitator, teacher, mentor, and partner training workshops across school- and community-based settings.
  • Conduct regular school, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and partner site visits to observe learning sessions, mentor facilitators and mentors, and identify strengths and areas for improvement; prepare and submit clear training and observation reports.
  • Support partners to develop and implement action plans informed by field observations, feedback, and monitoring data.
  • Collaborate with partners to ensure programs are effectively integrated into school and community structures, calendars, safeguarding protocols, and mentorship models.


Pedagogical Quality & Learning Improvement

  • Contribute to the review, adaptation, and strengthening of curricula, training materials, facilitator guides, mentorship tools, and learning resources across RISE and Girls First Institute programming.
  • Gather and synthesize field-level insights to inform training design, curriculum updates, and continuous improvement across programs.
  • Support the documentation and sharing of good practices, innovations, and lessons learned to strengthen partner capacity and collective learning.


Monitoring, Learning, Reporting & Knowledge Sharing

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director, Girls First Institute Director, MEL team, and partners to collect and reflect on data related to program implementation, quality, and learner outcomes.
  • Document field observations, emerging trends, good practices, challenges, and recommendations to inform internal learning, adaptive management, and program improvement.
  • Support the preparation of concise program updates, field briefs, learning summaries, and inputs for donor reporting, in close collaboration with the Associate Director and Institute leadership.
  • Participate actively in reflection, learning, and review sessions, contributing insights that strengthen program effectiveness and strategic direction.
  • Liaise with the MEL and Communications teams to support visibility and learning efforts, including capturing stories of change, practitioner insights, and impact narratives from the field.


Coordination, Communication & Collective Learning

  • Maintain regular communication with partner focal points, providing responsive technical and pedagogical support across both RISE and Girls First Institute programming.
  • Participate in partner coordination meetings, learning convenings, and communities of practice, sharing field insights to support peer learning and innovation.
  • Work closely with the Training Manager / Associate Director and Girls First Institute Director to identify and address implementation bottlenecks, contributing to adaptive solutions and continuous improvement.


The candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, social sciences, gender or a related field 
  • Proficient in Swahili and English 
  • Up to 5 years of experience in the development sector, with notable experience in education and learner-focused programs. 
  • Should be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
