Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Unreal Engine VR Experience Developer to design, build, and deploy fully interactive, high-fidelity virtual reality experiences from concept to final delivery. This role owns the entire VR content pipeline inside Unreal Engine — from importing 3D assets to creating immersive environments, interactions, performance optimization, and VR deployment across modern headsets. The ideal candidate is both technical and creative, comfortable working independently, and capable of transforming complex 3D scenes into smooth, engaging VR experiences.
Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
VR Development & Interaction
Build complete VR experiences using Unreal Engine 5 (Blueprints and/or C++)
Implement VR locomotion systems (teleportation, smooth movement, snap turn, free movement)
Create interactive elements (doors, UI panels, hotspots, object interaction)
Design intuitive user interactions optimized for VR comfort
Environment & Scene Integration
Import, organize, and optimize 3D assets (FBX, GLB, OBJ)
Set up collision, physics, and navigation systems
Assemble large, complex scenes while maintaining performance
Implement lighting systems using Lumen or baked lighting workflows
Performance & Optimization
Optimize scenes for high frame rates on VR headsets (72–120 FPS)
Reduce draw calls, polygon counts, and texture memory usage
Use Nanite, LODs, instancing, occlusion culling, and texture streaming effectively
Profile performance using Unreal’s debugging and VR performance tools
VR Platform Deployment
Package and deploy VR applications for:
Standalone VR headsets (Meta Quest series)
PC-VR (SteamVR / OpenXR)
Configure input mappings and platform-specific performance settings
Troubleshoot build, packaging, and runtime issues
Polish & Quality Control
Ensure visual consistency and high production quality
Test for motion comfort and usability
Fix lighting, collision, interaction, and performance issues
Prepare final builds and installation documentation
Required Skills & Experience
Core Requirements
Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5
Proven experience building fully interactive VR applications
Deep understanding of VR performance optimization
Solid knowledge of Blueprints (C++ a plus)
Experience with OpenXR, Meta Quest, or SteamVR pipelines
Strong understanding of 3D concepts (lighting, materials, shaders, LODs, UVs)
Technical Skills
VR locomotion systems and comfort best practices
Lighting workflows (Lumen, baked lighting, lightmaps)
Asset optimization and memory management
Familiarity with Nanite and modern UE5 rendering features
Version control (Git, Perforce, or similar)
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max
Experience creating UI in UMG
Basic C++ knowledge for Unreal Engine
Experience building for mobile VR (Android-based headsets)
Understanding of spatial audio for VR
