ACCOUNTANT
Job summary
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The role requires strong technical accounting skills, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to manage both accounts payable and receivable while meeting strict deadlines.

- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely posting of financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Assist in preparation of management accounts and variance analysis.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Perform bank reconciliations, petty cash reconciliations, and supplier account reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on collections.
- Ensure timely payment of suppliers and service providers.
- Track and reconcile daily sales and deposits from retail outlets.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.
- Support external and internal audits by providing accurate records.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax).
- Safeguard financial data and maintain confidentiality.
- Implement fraud prevention measures and monitor financial risks.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to align financial records.
- Monitor inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support payroll processing and statutory deductions.
- Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for audits.
- Maintain proper filing of financial records for easy retrieval.
- Generate ad-hoc financial reports for management when required.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (K) qualification or equivalent professional certification required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in the retail sector
- Hands-on experience with accounting software and reconciliations
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, ERP systems)
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
