Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting activities, and supporting the financial reporting, tax compliance and financial control requirements of Buy Rent Kenya Ltd. 

Reporting into CEO with line reporting to Sales Manager, 

Direct Reports None

Key Responsibilities

Organizational

● Communicate with CEO, Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, and share insights on Slack, Trello and general meeting

● Weekly strategic meetings with CEO, and Sales Manager

● Weekly ongoing task meetings with Relationship Manager 

Functional

● Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are recorded promptly and correctly.

● Prepare and issue customer invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables.

● Process supplier invoices, payments and expense claims.

● Perform bank, mobile money and other balance sheet reconciliations.

● Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.

● Monitor cash flow, revenues, expenses and budget performance.

● Maintain supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.

● Assist with annual audits and provide information required by auditors, tax authorities and management.

● Ensure compliance with company financial procedures, internal controls and applicable Kenyan accounting and tax requirements.

● Ensure all subscribers are paid up, and expired subscriber accounts are promptly deactivated.

● Support management with financial analysis and other accounting matters as required.

● Ensure the business is fully eTIMS/iTAX compliant 

● Reconciliation between Xero and ZOHO CRM.

Key Skills and Competences

Qualifications and Competencies

● Bachelor of commerce Finance/Accounting and ACCA/CPA 

● Relevant accounting experience (mini 3 to 5 yrs+)

● Relevant accounting experience with strong knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance requirements.

● Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and overall tech-savviness. 

● Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, ability to meet tight deadlines, and a high level of integrity and confidentiality. 

● Work independently with minimum supervision

● Audit background (added advantage) * KPI’s

● Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.

● Assist with payroll processing and related statutory deductions.

● Assist with sales commissions workings.

● Prepare and submit applicable tax and statutory returns, including Corporate Tax, VAT, PAYE and withholding taxes.

● Ensure all deadlines are met for taxes and statutory to be paid.
