JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTANT 
NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME

JOB LOCATION: NAIROBI & MOMBASA


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Record Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including general ledger, journals, and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial transactions for audit and regulatory compliance.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile vendor and customer accounts regularly to prevent discrepancies.
  • Follow up on overdue accounts and manage collections efficiently.

Banking & Cash Management:
  • Monitor daily cash flow and manage bank transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting to support operational decisions.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for cost optimization.
  • Provide management with actionable insights to support strategic planning.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Assist in preparing departmental and organizational budgets.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and report variances.
  • Support long-term financial planning initiatives.

Compliance & Audit Support:
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory regulations, and internal policies.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation required for external and internal audits.
  • Implement recommendations from audits to improve controls and processes.

Process Improvement & Systems Management:
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain and optimize accounting software and Excel-based tools.
  • Support digitalization initiatives and integration of financial systems.

Team Collaboration & Support:
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and assist in their development.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for finance-related queries.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a busy accounting environment.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
