Chef Qualifications
Culinary Training: Professional cooking certification or relevant experience in largescale food preparation.
Knowledge of Halal Requirements:
o Understanding of halal food rules (permissible ingredients, halal meat sourcing, avoiding cross-contamination).
o Ability to read ingredient labels and ensure all products used are halal-compliant.
Food Safety & Hygiene Certification:
o Certified in food handling, sanitation, and safe kitchen practices.
Experience Cooking for School Children:
o Familiarity with preparing nutritious, balanced meals appropriate for school-age children.
o Ability to follow school nutrition guidelines.
Menu Planning Skills:
o Can prepare simple, healthy meals that appeal to children while meeting dietary needs and cultural preferences.
Allergen Awareness:
o Understands common food allergies and can prevent cross-contamination.
Cleanliness & Organization:
o Maintains a clean kitchen environment and follows strict hygiene protocols.
Communication Skills:
o Able to work with school administrators, nutritionists, and parents when needed.
Dependability & Professionalism:
o Punctual, reliable, and able to manage time effectively in a school setting.
Knowledge of Somali foods will be an added advantage
