JOB TITLE :CONSULTANT ACCOUNTANT
NATURE OF JOB: PART TIME (2-3) VISITS PER WEEK
SALARY: KSHS.35,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, and reconciliations
- Review and approve journal entries and financial transactions
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reports
- Present financial reports and insights to management
Compliance & Tax Management
- Ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax laws and statutory regulations
- Oversee preparation and timely filing of VAT, PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, and corporate tax returns
- Liaise with KRA and other regulatory bodies when necessary
- Monitor changes in tax laws and financial regulations and advise management accordingly
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of statutory records
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analyze financial performance against budgets and provide variance reports
- Provide strategic financial advice to support cost control and profitability
- Develop cash flow projections and monitor liquidity
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Establish and strengthen internal control systems
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and adherence to financial policies
- Oversee audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
Advisory & Strategic Support
- Provide financial insights to support management decision-making
- Advise on cost optimization and operational efficiency
- Support investment, expansion, or restructuring decisions with financial analysis
- Develop and document financial policies and procedures
Systems & Process Improvement
- Review accounting systems and recommend improvements
- Ensure proper use of accounting software and financial tools
- Train or guide internal accounting staff where necessary
- Improve reporting templates and financial dashboards
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional certification (Required)
- Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience, preferably in a busy or high- volume organization
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax laws, and financial regulations
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
