The Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation was established through a Legal Gazette Notice No. of as a State Corporation with the aim of promoting forest conservation by providing buffer zones of tea and assorted tree species to check against human encroachment into the forestland.
Job Specification
The Director, Finance & Accounts, will be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for coordination and management of the Finance Accounts and credit control function.Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
Co-ordinating the development and implementation of internal financial and accounting policies, strategies, standards, programmes and regulations; Overseeing financial management, accounting and credit control for the Corporation’s financial resources; Co-ordinating the implementation of financial management and accounting regulations, systems and procedures as per the PFMA; Providing technical advice on financial management and accounting for the Corporation’s financial resources; Ensuring implementation of the Corporation’s strategic plans is in line with the Board of Directors’ approved budgets; Co-ordinating the preparation and implementation of the Corporation’s budget in consultation with the heads of department; Monitoring budget and reporting; Ensuring statutory deductions are remitted to relevant authorities Monitoring and evaluating performance of the Department; Co-ordinating the preparation of progress reports of the Department; Planning and budgeting for the Division; Ensuring the development and implementation computerized information systems and infrastructure in the Corporation; Building capacity and managing performance of the Department. Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
At least fifteen years relevant work experience, five of which must have been in a senior managerial position; Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Finance/ Accounting option), Economics, Business Administration (Finance option/ Accounting), Business Management (Finance/Accounting option), Finance or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Finance, Business Administration (Finance/ Accounting option), Business Management (Finance/ Accounting option) or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; Certified Public Accountant (CPA)K by Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examination (KASNEB) or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution; Leadership course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution; Proficiency in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, managerial and administrative capability as reflected in work performance and results.Important Safety Tips
