Job Description/Requirements
Location: Bomet
We are an organization located in a rural environment 60kms from Kericho town consisting of tea estates and two highly automated tea factories. We have an innovative approach to the growing and manufacture of black tea and pride ourselves in the quality of our personnel and our productivity.
Roles and responsibilities
1. To develop work plans for all estate operations and ensuring execution in efficient and scientific ways that deliver desired results as per Company objectives.
2. To ensure that all tea husbandry practices are carried out In line with scientific recommendations and as per Company guidelines.
3. To enforce Health and safety policies by ensuring employees operate in safe environment, adhere to safe work procedures by enforcing task specific operating procedures (SOP) through training, awareness creation and proper use of PPEs provided by the company.
4. To ensure smooth, cordial and efficient inter departmental cooperation with his/hers estate for efficient delivery of services and optimizing of Company resources and ensuring estate operates in the main stream of Company as a whole.
5. To ensure that all estate personnel records and documents are up to date and properly and securely kept for future use in line with Company policy.
6. Management of payroll to ensure accurate records and payment of employees is done in accordance with the CBA and any other written contract in force.
7. To Liaise with Company legal office for advice on legal issues relating to the Company to ensure compliance with labour laws and other legal requirements.
8. To ensuring that estate staffs are motivated and productive and all forms of unfair labour practices including but not limited to: gender, tribe, harassment, discrimination in whatever form are avoided in estate.
9. To develop an efficient and effective communication systems and dispute resolution mechanism that ensures fairness and protection of employees’ rights and maintains estate discipline at all time.
10. To ensure labour villages are kept clean and houses maintained in line with Company policy.
11. To perform continuous assessments of operations and suggest areas of improvements in order to cut costs and improve efficiency.
12. To perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements
1. Degree in Horticulture / Agriculture or Agriculture Engineering with at least TWO (2) years experience in a similar role.
2. Must have worked in the tea industry.
3. The candidate must have a sound knowledge of crop diseases, crop protection techniques and crop nutrition requirements. This will be tested extensively during the interview stage.
4. Good knowledge of farm certification for horticultural produce is required; Rain Forest,Global GAP, and other certfication schemes.
5. Good and proven administrative and management skills.
6. Excellent people and Industrial Relations skills.
7. High level of integrity.
8. Self-Motivation, with the ability to motivate others.
9. Good communication, data management, organisational and time-management skills.
