The Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA) is a value based youth Association that has a national membership of girls and young women representing every race, ethnicity, culture, class and religion in Kenya. KGGA is a member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The Association has been active in Kenya since 1920, making it one of the country’s oldest youth Associations. KGGA’s mission statement is “To provide opportunity for girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world”

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to assist with Financial Management work of KGGA to ensure timely and accurate provision of financial information.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate data entry into Quick-books as per the cost centres
  • Prepare bank reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Liquidation of work advances
  • Filing all financial documents in their correct places
  • Ensuring all statutory deductions are made
  • Raising payment documents and writing cheques after payment is approved
  • Assist with the audit process
  • Receive supplier invoices, stamp 'Received' on the invoice, and review the invoice and supporting Local Purchase Order (LPO) or contract Ensure persons collecting cheques sign the cheque payment register, and provide some identification in the form of ID cards, passport or driving license
  • Cancel all cancelled cheques and write ‘VOID’ and record in the cheque payment register with the word ‘cancelled’ in the payee space. Retain all voided cheques and attach either to the cancelled PVs or cheque book
  • Assistance during audit especially in getting documents as required by the auditors
  • Undertake other duties as your line manager should require in keeping with the responsibility of the post

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management
  • Part 1 of CPA or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a team or independently
  • Demonstration of creativity to achieve results using minimum resources
  • Strong oral, written and comprehension skills
  • Excellent software skills such as use of spreadsheets like excel, word, powerpoint, access.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment with tight deadlines
