Financial Accountant - Management Information & Reporting (Nyamira County)

Location: Nyamira County

Position Summary

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accountant will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting accurate financial information timely and complete with all supporting schedules. S/he will support the provision of financial analytics that aid decision-making as well as period-end closing processes. The position will business partner fields, factories, and engineering departments to monitor; and prepare relevant management information & Reports.

Responsibilities

a) Business partnering with the operations department ie field, factories & Engineering.

b) Analyzing actual field and manufacturing KPIs and preparing detailed monthly cost reports comparing actual verses budget and identifying key overspend cost heads.

c) Physical inspection and verification of contract jobs carried out in the field

d) Reconciliation of manufacturing variances and efficiency analysis and interpretation of cost variances monthly.

e) Timely and accurate management reporting

f) Analysis of business KPIs as well as carrying out any adhoc analytical work.

g) Generation of relevant journal entries and monthly general ledger reconciliation.

h) Participation in both external and internal audits and follow up on implementation of audit recommendations

i) Preparation of various accounting schedules for review by the Financial Controller.

j) Monthly inventory accounting, stock take and valuation.

k) Appraisal of capital projects investments using discounted cash flow.

l) Supports the annual budgeting process

m) Statutory Compliance and Internal Controls

n) Any other duty assigned from time to time by management.

Qualifications Required

a. Minimum 5 years hands on relevant experience preferably in AgricultureIndustry (Tea)

b. Minimum age - 38 years

c. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance

d. CPA-K and a member of ICPAK

e. Sound knowledge of ERP system as well as other accounting fundamentals
