Job Title: FOSA Officer

Our client, a deposit-taking (DT) Sacco based in Nairobi is seeking to fill the role of an FOSA Officer


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operational Management

  • Oversee daily operations within the FOSA.
  • Monitor compliance with operational guidelines, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard members’ funds.


2. Customer Service & Member Support

  • Attend to account holders and respond to member queries.
  • Handle mobile banking inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Correspond and manage FOSA-related emails.
  • Promote and cross-sell FOSA products to drive business growth.


3. Account & Transaction Management

  • Open and activate member accounts.
  • Reconcile member accounts (sources of income, overdrawn, and dormant accounts).
  • Monitor monthly standing orders and ensure timely processing.
  • Prepare and reconcile salary schedules and FOSA deductions.
  • Authorize and approve transactions within delegated authority.


4. Loan & Product Processing

  • Process paper-based FOSA loan applications.
  • Manage ATM applications, issuance, and related services.


5. Security & Compliance

  • Act as custodian of banking hall and vault keys.
  • Supervise security personnel to ensure adherence to FOSA policies.
  • Serve as custodian of SACCO collaterals and securities.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in banking, microfinance, or SACCO operations.
  • Strong knowledge of front office operations, cash management, and regulatory compliance.


KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCE

  • Proficiency in core banking systems and MS Office applications.
  • Keen attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Ability to identify risks and implement effective internal controls.
  • Strong decision-making skills within delegated authority.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Capacity to supervise staff and security personnel effectively.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
