Home Science Teacher

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Home Science/Home Economics in accordance with the [Insert Curriculum e.g., CBC / 8-4-4 / IGCSE] .
• Practical Sessions: Conduct practical lessons in Food and Nutrition, Textiles and Clothing, and Home Management. Ensure the kitchen and sewing labs are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Student Assessment: Develop and administer formative and summative assessments. Mark students' work, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of academic progress.
• Syllabus Coverage: Ensure comprehensive coverage of the syllabus in preparation for [Insert Exams e.g., KPSEA / KJSEA AND OTHERS) .
• Classroom Management: Maintain discipline and a positive learning environment in accordance with school policies.
• Resource Management: Advise the administration on the procurement of food items, fabrics, and equipment needed for practical lessons.
• Co-curricular Activities: Participate in departmental activities and may be required to assist in school events, exhibitions, or science congresses.
• Parental Engagement: Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school functions as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

1. Education: Must have a minimum of a Diploma in Home Economics or a Bachelor of Education (Home Economics) from a recognized institution.
2. Certification: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) OR be TSC certifiable.
3. Experience: None required
4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in handling kitchen equipment and sewing machines. Knowledge of modern teaching methodologies is an added advantage.
5. Key Competencies: Strong communication skills, creativity, patience, and a passion for empowering learners with practical life skills.
