Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, slicing, and measuring.
- Ensure that all food items are stored and handled according to food safety regulations.
- Assist with inventory control and food ordering.
- Cooking:
- Cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, according to hotel recipes and standards.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked to perfection.
- Present dishes in an attractive and appetizing manner.
- Kitchen Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Teamwork:
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Follow the instructions of the Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef.
- Assist with training and mentoring new kitchen staff.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by ensuring that food orders are prepared accurately and promptly.
- Handle customer requests and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education:
- High school qualification
- Certificate Course in Food Production or equivalent.
- Culinary training or experience preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Experience working in a medium-sized hotel or restaurant preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong cooking and food preparation skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Working Conditions
- Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- May work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposed to high temperatures, hot equipment, and sharp objects.
