KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate the learning of English & Literature, Kiswahili & Fasihi and Physical Education (P.E.) using the current methodologies with a keen interest in the individual learner differences.
- Mentor learners towards self-reliance and good morals focused on positive cultures.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligning with curriculum standards and educational objectives.
- Employ innovative teaching methods to make the subjects concepts accessible and relatable to students.
- Facilitate interactive classroom discussions, encourage critical thinking, and promote problem-solving skills.
- Provide individualized support and guidance to students, addressing their academic needs and challenges.
- Utilize a variety of teaching tools, technologies, and resources to enhance the learning experience.
- Design and administer assessments to measure student understanding and progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages collaboration and respectful behavior.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and administrators to develop and refine the curriculum, ensuring its effectiveness and relevance.
- Stay updated with current educational trends, research, and best practices in your teaching subjects.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance teaching skills and subject matter expertise.
- Maintain accurate records of results, and student performance, facilitating effective assessment.
- Adhere to the TSC teaching professional Code of Conduct as well as the organization’s Professional Code of Conduct as outlined in the HR manual.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (P.E.) DUTIES
- Plan and deliver physical education lessons in accordance with the approved Kenyan secondary school curriculum.
- Teach a range of physical activities, including athletics, team sports, individual sports, fitness training, and movement skills.
- Integrate theoretical aspects of physical education such as health, fitness, nutrition, and injury prevention.
- Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate learners with different abilities, fitness levels, and special educational needs.
- Assess learners’ physical performance, skill acquisition, fitness, and participation using appropriate assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievement.
- Provide regular feedback to learners to support improvement and personal goal setting.
- Prepare assessment reports in line with school and Ministry of Education requirements.
- Promote positive values such as teamwork, leadership, self-discipline, responsibility, and fair play.
- Encourage lifelong participation in physical activity and the adoption of healthy lifestyles.
- Support learners’ social, emotional, and physical development through structured and safe physical activities.
- Ensure all physical education activities are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
- Enforce safety rules and proper use of sports equipment and facilities.
- Conduct regular inspection and maintenance of sports equipment.
- Administer basic first aid and follow school emergency and child protection procedures.
- Coach and supervise school sports teams and clubs.
- Organize and participate in school sports days, athletics meets, and inter-school competitions.
- Collaborate with other teachers, school administration, and learners.
