Loan Recovery Assistant1. JOB INFORMATION
Job Title: Loan Recovery Assistant
Department: Finance
Section: Recovery
Reports to: Loans Recovery Manager
Direct Reports: None
Workstation:  Nairobi
2. JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for ensuring that loans are paid as per the loan agreement using efficient, effective and fair debt recovery procedures aimed at maintaining the portfolio at risk below 5% and minimizing bad debt portfolio loss.
3. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBS
Managerial / Supervisory/ Operational Responsibilities or roles:
a) Aggressively follow-up on non-performing loans through telephone calls, emails and text messages.
b) Management of direct debits by extracting the direct debits from loan forms, processing and submitting to the banks, monthly reconciliation, follow-ups and reporting performance.
c) Management of check-off by sending the check-off advice and clearance letters to members and employers, follow-up and reporting performance.
d) Communicating and issuing default notices as per policy.
e) Attending to members inquiries on matters relating to their accounts.
f) Refunding guarantors amounts deducted from them with respect to defaulted loans in cases where defaulters have made payments.
g) Processing invoices from debt collectors and other service providers in the recovery section.
h) Preparing periodical reports on delinquent loans and accounts.
i) Verification of member information/documents and bank statements whilst assessing loans.
j) Enforcing the tier system on the deposit contributions.
k) Guarantor substitution in line with the policy.
l) Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time
Nature of Decision Making: Operational
4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum level of academic qualification, skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the role:
a) A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or Credit Administration or Co-operative Management or any other related field.
b) Successful candidates will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya by obtaining the necessary documentation.
Minimum level of professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role:
A professional accounting qualification CPA – Finalist/ Certified Credit Professional (CCP)
Minimum level of personal and professional experience required to perform effectively in the role:
Credit Management.
Minimum months or years of experience required to have to be appointed to the position:
Minimum 2 years relevant experience and in a in a similar position.
5. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
a) Implementation of the Loan recovery policy and procedures.
b) Number of accounts converted from non-performing to performing.
c) Effective and timely communication.
d) Percentage of outbound calls/ visits resulting in promise to pay.
e) Total collection as a percentage of the assigned portfolio.
f) Required Loan Loss Provision.
g) Portfolio at Risk (PAR of less than 5%).
h) Timely and accurate reports on recovery matters.
