Job descriptions & requirements

Role summary

Pebble & Stem / PS Farms is seeking a hands-on consultant to help design, stabilize, and professionalize an indoor oyster mushroom farming operation. This role is centered on climate-controlled production: substrate and spawn workflow, incubation-room performance, fruiting-room environmental control, contamination prevention, harvest discipline, and pack-out readiness. The consultant must be able to translate mushroom biology into a repeatable indoor farming system with clear operating parameters for temperature, humidity, fresh air exchange, sanitation, and weekly production cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Refine current setup and optimization of an indoor mushroom farming system for oyster production.
  • Define and monitor climate control targets for incubation and fruiting rooms, including temperature, relative humidity, airflow, and fresh air exchange.
  • Advise on indoor grow-room layout, environmental zoning, clean/dirty flow, and operating separation between incubation, fruiting, and pack-out areas.
  • Establish daily room-check routines, climate logs, escalation thresholds, and corrective actions when indoor conditions drift.
  • Recommend practical controls and equipment logic for humidification, ventilation, exhaust, and related indoor environmental management.
  • Improve consistency of pinning, fruiting, yield, and crop quality through better indoor climate discipline.
  • Train staff on how indoor environmental conditions affect contamination risk, morphology, timing, and harvest quality.

Requirement

  • Demonstrated experience in indoor mushroom farming and climate-controlled grow environments, preferably for oyster mushrooms.
