Job Description: ECD Teacher Internship
Strong Start invites passionate Early Childhood Development teachers to gain hands-on classroom experience through our ECD Teacher Internship Program. This internship is designed for emerging educators who are eager to translate theory into practice within high-quality early childhood settings.
Interns will work with children aged 6 months to 3 years, supporting engaging, play-based learning experiences including sensory play, movement and sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration, and early life skills.
This role involves working with both children and caregivers. As Strong Start operates across multiple sites, flexibility is essential as teaching locations and schedules may vary, including weekdays and occasional weekends.
We are seeking reflective, growth-oriented educators whose values align with positive, child-centred learning approaches. Strong professionalism, reliability, and a desire to continuously learn and improve are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Strong Start classes using provided lesson plans, teacher guides, and learning objectives
Prepare thoroughly for each session, including organising and setting up materials in advance
Communicate learning objectives clearly and ensure classes start and end on time
Facilitate engaging, balanced playgroup sessions that support holistic child development
Observe, assess, and document each child’s development and progress
Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment for children and caregivers
Model professionalism, teamwork, and positive teaching practices at all times
Represent Strong Start as a positive and respectful brand ambassador
Teach at various Strong Start locations across Nairobi
Teach during weekdays and selected weekends as required
Qualifications & Skills
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development / Early Childhood Education
Certificate of Good Conduct
Fluency in English and Kiswahili
Preferred
Understanding of curriculum development and play-based learning

Excellent organisation, time management, and reliability
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
Passion for early childhood education and child-centred practice
